Liudmyla Yankina, Ukrainian Human Rights Defender, Leader of the protection Unit for Human rights defenders, activists, volunteers, journalists and other active part of civil society (including in the newly occupied territories), in ZMINA Human Rights Center. Member of the Board in „Educational House of Human Rights in Chernihiv”. Mentor at the Mentorship Program of CEDEM for civil society to strengthen advocacy and communication capabilities of civil society organizations.
Actively protects the women’s rights, representatives of the LGBTIQ community, national minorities and indigenous peoples, refugees from countries with authoritarian regimes, where representatives of civil society are persecuted. During the Revolution of Dignity, she used to be an active volunteer, coordinated a volunteer network and also used to be a medical volunteer.
Awarded the jubilee medal of the President of Ukraine „For a significant contribution to the development of Ukraine’s independence”. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation to Ukraine, she has become a humanitarian volunteer and patronage nurse for the most vulnerable categories of the population. Liudmyla provided food and medical supplies to people with disabilities, cancer patients, and elderly people in Kyiv and the Kyiv region.
